SECRET MOON OF PLUTO

CHARON MOON

Pluto was once considered as a Planet. But now, It is considered as a Dwarf Planet. Even though it was a Dwarf Planet, It has five moons revolves around it. What is the important Moons of all? Let's see about it. 

BINARY DWARF PLANET:

An object which is present as a Satellite and revolves around the Planet is called as a Moon. This suits to Pluto and Charon. If we differentiate it, Both of them looks as a Brothers. If Charon revolve around our Sun, It is also considered as a Dwarf Planet. Scientists calls both as a Binary Dwarf Planets. Charon revolves around Pluto. Charon is smaller than Pluto. The distance between Pluto and Charon is 19,000kms. Pluto and Charon are tidally locked to each other. If we compare it to our Earth and our Moon, Moon is tidally locked to Earth. But, Earth is not tidally locked to Moon.

Charon takes 6.4 Earth days to complete one rotation around Pluto. The diameter of Charon is 1214kms. If you see this Moon in Pluto, It completely covers Sun for three days. Pluto is more colorful than Charon. Because, Pluto has more Nitrogen Ice. So, A part of Pluto is looks in Red color. But, Charon has more Water Ice. It looks like a saturated color or Grey color. The surface of Charon may contain Organic matters. Jim, a scientist found this Charon. The name Charon is also put by him with his wife's name Char-on. The name Charon is also a God name of Greeks. His duty is to burry the Corpse. 

BARYCENTER-THE COMMON POINT:

How Charon revolves around Pluto? There are many theories are proposed to this question. The two main theories are, One is, An asteroid from KUIPER BELT crosses the Pluto. Pluto attracts that asteroid and made it as its Moon. Second theory is, A massive object from Kuiper Belt, Hits the Pluto and the dust particles from this creates Charon. Charon is a special Moon. If you see both revolving towards a common point. The reason is, If you take Earth and Moon, The center of mass of both of them is present on Earth. So, We can see that the Moon revolves around our Earth. But, The Center of Mass of Pluto and Charon is present outside of Pluto. It is the second discovery. The first discovery of this common point is between SUN and JUPITER. The common point is called as BARYCENTER OF SUN AND JUPITER. It presents outside of Sun. 

TEMPERATURE AND GRAVITY OF CHARON:

The average temperature of Charon is -230°C. The coldest temperature recorded in Charon is -268°C. The temperature of Charon on Summer is -213°C. Charon has many Valleys. The main Valley is present at its Equator region. It creates a Mountain Range. The depth of that Valley is 7-8kms. Under the surface their may be Water in Liquid State present in it. There is no atmosphere of Charon. The Gravity of Charon is 33% less than the Gravity on Earth. 

THE CONCLUSION:

It is at a distance of 40 Astronomical Units from Earth. It takes 7-8 Years to reach that Moon from Our Earth. It we travel to that Moon, We can know more about the objects in the Kuiper Belt. It contains Organic Compounds and Water Ice. In future We can travel to Charon. It is the best example of a Dwarf Planet that revolves around another Dwarf Planet. That is Pluto and Charon.
