THE COLOR OF SPACE

 COLOR OF SPACE

Daily we see the Colorful images of Space. How Scientists add Colors to the Space Images? How did they choose the Color? Let's see about it.

Red Green Blue?

Before we see about Space Images, We will see about an Image of Alim Khan, took in 1911. They took three Black and White images. The three images are taken with Red, Blue and Green Filter. This three images are United to give us the Colorful Image. Why we use only Red, Green and Blue? Because, We see only the Visible Light Spectrum in the Universe. It contains the Longest Wavelength (Red) to the Shortest Wavelength (Blue). To see these Colors, Our Eyes has three types of Cone Cells. The First Cone absorbs the Longest Wavelength, The Second Cone absorbs the Medium Wavelength and the Third Cone absorbs the Shortest Wavelength. We can able to see the Colorful Image by the Mixing of this three Colors.

COLORS BY ELEMENTS:

Hubble Telescope revolves around our Earth from 1990. This Telescope captures the Images of Planets, Stars, Galaxies Nebulas and so on. It takes the Images in Black and White with three Color filters. For Example, Hubble Takes the image of Bubble Nebula , But, It takes in the Black and White form. Scientists and Astronomers color them. You will thought, Why it wasn't directly take as a Colorful Image? If it directly takes a Colorful Image, There is a chance of the missing in many details in the Image.

If it takes the Image of the Saturn, It takes three images with three different Color Spectrum. This process is called Broadband Spectrum. If we join all the three different images we get a Colorful Image of Saturn. We are seeing that, If The power of our Eye is is equal to the telescope's power. This phenomenon is called True Color Imaging. There is an alternate way also to see them.

Hubble takes the Image of PILLARS OF CREATION. In that it takes colors of Elements Sulphur, Hydrogen and Oxygen. Sulphur and Hydrogen are Red in Color. Oxygen is Green in Color. But, If we join the Image this is not a Correct colors to show. To solve this, Scientists takes the Sulphur as Longest Wavelength, Hydrogen as Medium Wavelength and Oxygen as Shortest Wavelength. Hence we have the Exact Image of Pillars of Creation. This process is called as Narrow Band Filtering.

HUBBLE GIVES FAKE IMAGES?

How Hubble can see individual Elements in Distant Galaxies? We can't see the objects hat are covered with a cover or any other Fabric. But, the objects are visible in the Infrared Filter. Hubble has an ability to see the objects with Infrared and UV-Filter. If we see the objects with different Wavelengths, We see different types of same image. The images we see are Fake? It is not actually Fake, But, This images gives more detail to us to understand the objects and Space. We can also see the Elements, Gases and Dust Particles present in it.
